It is well established that the practice of Yoga can bring many physical benefits to the body as well as steadiness of the mind, that ultimately leads to a deep sense of fulfilment, joy and inner peace. Through a regular Yoga practice we begin to observe ourselves and notice that the body, emotions and thoughts are not permanent and fixed, but are in fact in a constant state of flux, and are subject to change. We begin to observe the mental habits, emotional ups and downs and the resulting physical limitations that can hide the true nature of our Being. Whilst we can become overwhelmed with these fluctuations, the practice of Yoga draws us back to our essential Being, that which is unaffected by the changes.
This workshop will explore the connection between the mind, our emotions and our body through the practice of simple postures, breathing techniques, meditation and relaxation. Through the Asana practice we will notice the areas where we may hold tension in our bodies, and begin to connect this to certain areas of our consciousness through the understanding of the Chakras. We will learn breathing techniques known as Pranayama that are useful in soothing the nervous system and bringing balance to the energy body, and meditation to calm the mind. We will also finish with Yoga Nidra, or deep relaxation for complete holistic well being.
