Liberate your Spine: A Somatic Approach to Pain-Free Movement
The spine is our body’s central support system—connecting the skeleton, protecting the spinal cord, and enabling smooth, coordinated movement. When our body awareness is low or our movement patterns are unbalanced, the spine can be pulled out of alignment, leading to stiffness, instability, and even chronic pain.
In this workshop, we’ll explore simple, effective ways to support a healthy, functional spine and ease existing discomfort. Through a clear look at spinal anatomy and its four key movements, we’ll use gentle Somatic exercises to restore awareness, balance muscular patterns, and reconnect the spine with the whole body.
What is Somatic Movement?
Somatics is a movement practice that deepens your internal awareness while improving mobility and coordination. The term comes from the Greek soma—the body as we experience it from within. By tuning into this first-person perspective, we start to uncover both what we sense clearly and what has been hidden from our awareness.
Somatic movement helps you feel what’s actually happening in your body and respond to it with ease. Through slow, gentle exercises, you observe how you move and recognise patterns in the nervous system that may limit comfort or freedom of motion. As your somatic awareness grows, so do your posture, mobility, coordination, and overall balance.
