Yoga Therapy Workshop – The Mind, the Emotions and Your Body
According to Yogic philosophy, the mind and body are not separate but one. When we try to eliminate the ailments of the body without taking in to consideration our mental health, we will only be dealing with half the story. Each of us has a story of our lives that has led us to where we are now. Our nervous system is affected by our, story, and the way we react to life’s stresses show up in our bodies.
In this workshop we will begin to see the link between the thoughts that arise in the mind, how they create the variety of emotions, and how this appears in our bodies. We will start with some simple Somatic movement to allow us to recognise the unhelpful movement patterns that may have developed throughout our lives and will learn simple techniques to bring us back into balance.
We will also look at the Chakras, or energy centres of the body, and understand how the various emotions can can create energetic blockages that can appear as tension or various ailments. Using gentle movement, breath awareness, pranayama breathing techniques, mindful meditation, and relaxation, we will learn how to free these bodily tensions, restore balance in our emotions, and liberate the mind from unhelpful though patterns.
This workshop is suitable for complete beginners.
